Vines - the viticultural fountain of youth
A crucial part of sound viticultural practice, pruning aids fruitfulness and sets the stage for a quality grape harvest. The team at Château Argadens has already been hard at work for some weeks now, pruning shears in hand, removing last year's wood and selecting the most vigorous canes which will provide the new shoots. Only two fruit canes per vine plant are kept.
And if the vine “weeps” from its wounds, it’s all in a good cause! Being a forgiving plant, if the meteorological conditions are favourable it will yield some excellent grapes come late summer.
