The Men and Women who craft CHÂTEAU ARGADENS

Colombard at Château Argadens

In early July (2019), we planted two parcels of white grapes at Château Argadens. Ever concerned to improve the quality of wines, but also to adapt our vineyard to global warming, we chose to plant 1.09 hectares of Colombard and 0.66 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc.

This is the very first time that we have planted Colombard at Château Argadens. We’re hoping that this variety will contribute rich aromas and freshness when blended with Sauvignon Blanc and the Sémillon.

But we’ll have to be patient before we can taste the wines from these two parcels – they won’t produce any grapes until the 2021 vintage.

To plant these parcels, we called on the services of a machine-planting company. During operations, the plants are put in place with a marker (tutor) and each one watered with 3-4 litres of water in a matter of seconds (watch the video).
