On the 40 hectares of red grape varieties at Château Argadens, Merlot reigns supreme, but the venerable Cabernet and young Petit Verdot have also earned their spurs !
On our naturally drained slopes, the vines receive just the right amount of water, while the south/south-easterly orientation gives them maximum sunshine from the moment the sun rises and protects them from the mid-afternoon heat.
Every harvest-time, we watch with the same unfailing enthusiasm the slow ripening of the berries which, however concentrated, always impart the same intensity and aromatic freshness to our wines!
All we have to do at the winery is to hone what nature has given us, while respecting its natural balance: 10 to 12 months in oak (one-quarter of the barrels are renewed each year, medium toast) and very gradual blending of batches by block.
